Dr. Maria M Borges was the Chief Quality Officer of SRL Diagnostics since its inception in 1996 until December 2014.
As SRL Chief Quality Officer, she was responsible for Quality practices in SRL Diagnostics spanning reference labs, centers of excellence, network laboratories and thousands of collection points spread over India, South Asia, Middle East and Africa. Dr. Borges was instrumental in guiding the team at SRL to successfully undertake the CAP accreditation journey for the four largest network labs. She has also served as a CAP inspection team member for several laboratories and is an active speaker at CAP education seminars.
She is also a Lead auditor with the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) for ISO 15189:2012 and was responsible for over 30 laboratories of SRL achieving NABL accreditation. During her tenure with SRL, she was responsible for setting up Quality Systems for the Central Laboratory which has worked as an affiliate laboratory for all major international Clinical Research Organizations in conformance with the requirements of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and for USFDA submissions.
QualAssure Diagnostica is the start of a new chapter in her professional career as an entrepreneur. The company provides services for Quality Systems, Auditing, Accreditation Preparation and Training in Medical Laboratory Diagnostics.
Dr. Borges has more than 25 years of experience in the laboratory health care industry and is an industry leader. She holds a PhD in Applied Biology from the University of Mumbai. She also worked with the Cancer Research Institute, Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai for six years before joining SRL Diagnostics.
